On the Rocky Road to Dublin

Anne Sears: Last in your Programs--First in your Hearts.

So, I get to work today at 4:30ish utterly exhuasted, sweaty, and kinda filmy. And by “filmy” I mean:  Ya know that feeling you get when you’ve gotten caught in the rain, you’re soaked, but you can’t go home and change or anything so you air dry and your skin always feels a little dirty…that’s what I mean by filmy.

All in all, not a good way to be feeling when staring down a 5-6 hour shift coming head on where I have to be pleasant and patient with people.

However, an hour in a man and his kid come in to the restaurant and I am IN LOVE. I don’t say this often. Usually, other people’s kids annoy the shit out of me and I imagine different scenarios where trays of hot food “accidentally” fall on them because the little hellions are running around and being obnoxious. However, this kid was ADORABLE. I mean, the Jerry McGuire kid combined with sneezing panda babies kind of adorable. This much cuteness should not exist in the world for fear of world domination by cuteness. Not only was he breaking the cuteness scale, but he was POLITE as well! Sat in his seat. Said please and thank you. and before he left he came up to me and told me his name was Luke and it was “very nice to meet you”.

Be still my fucking heart.

I almost kidnapped the little nugget right there.
